As you can probably see, there hasn’t been much going on around here recently so I’ve decided to put this blog on hold for a few months until something interesting happens.  Byyyyyeeeeeeeeeeee!

Frustration

25 01 2009

Helen won’t tell me what’s in the box …..

I’m getting married in the morning … well 2010 actually

21 12 2008

I’m pleased to announce (belatedly) that on the 16th October 2008, Helen accepted a half-assed proposal of marriage (yes from me) outside the British Telecom telephone exchange in Newport Pagnell! I was convinced it was a temporary bout of insanity that caused her to agree but then I realised it was thought of dinner at Praego but either way, she’s made me the happiest person in town. W00t!

Change hostname of a Cisco CSS 11500 Content Switch

24 09 2008

If you are wondering like I was about how to change the hostname or “CLI prompt” as Cisco seem to refer to it, of a Cisco 11500 series CSS content switch, simply use the prompt command. You don’t even need to go into global configuration mode! It’s worth bearing in mind though that if you login with a new username, the prompt will probably default back to CSS11501.

Example:

CSS11501#  prompt CSS01
CSS01#
